Current Camp Challenge OUT NOW!!!!!!
The Objective: A high-energy test of batting speed and fielding communication. Teams will play a competitive tournament to see which group can rack up the absolute highest number of runs in a single innings.
The Multiplier Throw: Before the game begins, one chosen player throws a foam javelin past a line of spaced-out cones.
Set the Stakes: The number of cones the javelin successfully passes becomes that team's point multiplier for the entire game.
The Scatter: The batter steps up and throws or strikes 3 to 5 balls out into the field all at once.
The Run: The batter immediately sprints around the bases, scoring one run for every single base they pass.
The Retrieve: The fielding team must scramble, communicate, and pass every ball back to the home hoop.
The Freeze: Once all balls are secured in the hoop, fielders shout "STOP!" to freeze the batter and end their run.
The Base Score: Every single player on the team gets one turn to bat. Add all their individual runs together to get the team's Base Score.
The Final Score: Multiply the Base Score by the Javelin Multiplier to get the Final Score (e.g., 30 runs x 4 cones = 120 points).
The Objective: A pure test of teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Teams must work together using half-pipes (or similar equipment) to seamlessly transport a rolling ball across a set distance and drop it into a bucket without it ever touching the floor.
Part 1: The 10-Meter Sprint (Speed Metric)
The Track: Mark a clear Start Line and a Finish Line exactly 10 meters apart.
The Relay: Kids line up their half-pipes to seamlessly roll the ball down the line, sprinting from the back to the front to extend the track.
The Penalty: If the ball touches the floor or is touched by a hand, the team must immediately restart from the Start Line.
The Score: Use a stopwatch. The absolute fastest 10-meter completion time by a single team is submitted to the master sheet to represent your camp!
Part 2: The 10-Minute Endurance (Volume Metric)
The Setup: Keep the same 10-meter track, but place a bucket at the finish line.
The Clock: The Lead Coach blows the whistle and starts a strict 10-minute countdown for the entire hall.
The Loop: Teams must successfully drop the ball into the bucket, grab it, run back to the start, and roll it down the track again as many times as possible.
The Score: Every successful drop into the bucket equals one lap. The highest number of laps completed by a single team in 10 minutes represents your camp
The Objective: The ultimate, high-pressure climax to the Derby Day. One selected Champion from each camp will compete head-to-head on a live broadcast to score as many points as possible in one minute, while their entire camp screams in support.
The Setup: While the kids are sitting down to eat, divide your camp into exactly 10 equal quiz teams.
The Equipment: Hand out one official Derby Day answer sheet and a pen to every single team.
The Format: The Lead Coach stands at the front and reads the 20 sports and biology questions aloud to the room.
The Deliberation: The teams must whisper and work together to agree on an answer without letting the other groups hear them.
The Recording: Teams write their final, agreed-upon answer clearly in the corresponding box on their sheet.
The Bonus Round: Finish the quiz with the 60-second "Name the ID PE Coaches" speed challenge, where every correct staff name written down earns an extra point.
The Collection: Once all questions are finished and time is up, the coaches collect all 10 answer sheets from the tables.
The Marking: The coaches sit down, mark the sheets, and tally up the total number of correct answers from the entire room.
The Official Derby Score: Combine the points from all 10 sheets into one massive "Total Camp Score" and submit that final number to the master sheet to battle the rival camp!
The Objective: A test of raw throwing power, accuracy, and relentless teamwork. Teams must use dodgeballs to push a target cone as far away from their starting line as physically possible within a 5-minute time limit.
The Setup: Divide your camp into 3 equal teams to rotate through the throwing stations.
The Line: Set up a straight, clearly marked throwing line that players are strictly not allowed to cross.
The Target: Place one large cone exactly 3 meters in front of each team's throwing line.
The Ammo: Split your entire supply of dodgeballs equally among the 3 teams before the timer starts.
The Clock: On the lead coach's whistle, start a strict 5-minute countdown timer for the whole sports hall.
The Action: Kids rapidly throw their dodgeballs to repeatedly smash their cone as far back as physically possible.
The Reset: If a cone gets knocked over, a coach must quickly run in and stand it up exactly where it landed so the push can continue.
The Measure: When the 5 minutes are up, blow the whistle and measure the exact distance from the starting line to each of the 3 cones.
The Final Score: Add those 3 distances together to get your "Total Camp Distance" and submit that massive number to the master sheet!
The Objective: The ultimate, high-pressure climax to the Derby Day. One selected Champion from each camp will compete head-to-head on a live broadcast to score as many points as possible in one minute, while their entire camp screams in support.
The Concept: This is the ultimate climax of the day—a frantic, high-pressure, 60-second rapid-fire shootout broadcast live between Maundene and Fairview.
The Atmosphere: We are going for absolute maximum energy; the entire camp will be packed together, screaming, chanting, and hyping up their team at the big screen.
The Showdown: This is a 4-round war where specific representatives from each camp step up to go head-to-head live on camera.
The Matchups: The rounds will see the Lead Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Young Leaders, and finally, one chosen Child Champion battle it out for their site.
The Intimidation: Before the clock starts, the microphones go live so the kids can scream for their competitor and show off their camp pride to the rivals on the screen.
The Start: The Host will drop a synchronized "3, 2, 1, GO!" across both camps, and the room absolutely erupts.
The Frenzy: The competitor has exactly 60 seconds to rapid-fire as many balls into their target bin as physically possible.
The Noise: While the clock is ticking, every single kid and coach in the hall is yelling at the top of their lungs, counting every successful shot together.
The Climax: The total successful shots from all four rounds are added together to crown the ultimate Virtual Derby Champions live in front of everyone!
